Editor's Note: Portions of this story in italics below were found to come from LiveScience. The human mind sees minds everywhere. Show us a collection of bouncing balls and we hallucinate agency; a glance at a stuffed animal and we endow it with a mood; I'm convinced Siri doesn't like me. The point is that we are constantly translating our visual perceptions into a theory of mind, as we attempt to imagine the internal states of teddy bears, microchips and perfect strangers. Most of the time, this approach works well enough. The point is that a few cues of body language are instantly translated into a rich mental image.
Just How Many Women Are Naked On The Internet? A Back-Of-The-Envelope Calculation
Probably not. A camgirl is a woman who performs sex acts on the internet via a webcam. The term originally applied to anyone who videoed themselves via webcam doing anything — not necessarily sexual acts - but over time it has generally been associated with sexual behaviour. Well thanks to year-old former London College of Fashion student Vanessa Omoregie, this perception of camgirls could be about to change. She then merges the original painting and the webcam image, to create some quite visually startling, and some stunning, works. Some women show parts of their body, some show it in full, some are partially clothed and others choose to show their face. Most of the images have been well aligned, with facial expressions and body contours brilliantly accurate.
Ray interviewed more than 80 women, a wide selection of bloggers, chatters, daters, models, geeks and non-geeks. What she found is perhaps not all that surprising but you won't hear it on the evening news: Women have wide-ranging sexual interests and are savvy enough to figure out how to harness technology to pursue our erotic desires -- and occasionally make some money doing it. Naked on the Internet Seal Press is a serious look at how women are incorporating the internet into sex, and while the occasional wry comment and the deft use of individual stories leavens the academic tone, they don't undermine the gravity of the work.
