By Stephanie Linning for MailOnline. From a vibrant coral reef to an other-worldly demon, these are just some of the breathtaking designs on display at the annual World Bodypainting Festival. The three-day festival, which is celebrating its 20th year, saw some 30, spectators descend on Klagenfurt, in Austria, to admire the stunning works of art painted on the human canvases. Artists from 50 nations around the world gathered this weekend to show off their skills in a series of contests, including brush and sponge, ultraviolet effects, airbrush and special effects.

Bare-It-All Body Paintings
Two brave girls went to a gym wearing almost nothing but body paint in an attempt to see whether other gym-goers would even notice. Fitness fans Sarah Reilly and Maria Luciotti partnered with renowned body painter Jen Seidel for the social experiment at a gym in Baltimore, Maryland where they worked out with only body paint as their clothes. The amazingly done body paint made Sarah and Maria appears wearing innocent leggings and workout bras. Jen Seidel and her painting partner designed a purple, grey and pink ensemble on Maria, complete with faux capri pants. Sarah, meanwhile, seemed to be sporting a grey and hot pink outfit with a geometrical pattern. It was only then that the employee realized that Sarah and Maria were wearing body paint in lieu of clothing.

As a year-old entrepreneur and part-time model in Brooklyn, Sarah Zickel has done some daring and amazing things. But with Bodypainting Day in NYC approaching, she took the plunge into something she never tried before, allowing artist Andy Golub, the event organizer, to transform her body into a living canvas. Of course, body painting is a bit of a misnomer. The paint is actually theatrical makeup.
These days, it seems like body paint Halloween costumes are taking the sexy costumes trend to whole new levels. While outfits seem to be getting smaller and smaller, some celebs are foregoing fabric entirely until their costumes shrink right out of sight. But hey, if you can pull it off, why not?
