We have heard countless stories of surfers who were towed behind a boat with ski rope as well as stories involving the brave individuals who were tugged along from the shoreline by a truck. However, the evolution of wakeboarding begins in when Tony Finn developed the skurfer for a sport known as skiboarding. The skurfer was a combination between a water ski and a surfboard. Due to the skurfers lack of foot straps, the rider had the ability to stand anywhere on the board. Foot straps were not implemented onto the board until the summer of when Finn decided they were a necessity. Why was this innovation a big deal?

I saw a great video someone made wakeboarding around Sandy Spit and it made me wonder if you can rent a wakeboard anywhere? We are planning on doing a private charter via boat single hull that I would think could easily pull a wakeboard. Is this even common to do around the islands or is this just a pipe dream? Side question, anyone know how the new trees are doing on Sandy Spit?
