Plenty of research has shown that scent is linked to sexual attraction, but the exact connection is a mystery. What fragrant chemical are men and women wooed by? Natural body odors play a role, but scientists have not been able to pin down exactly which of our personal fragrances entices a mate. A group of researchers from Switzerland has delivered the latest clue. The team, based at the University of Bern, wanted to know if a protein called human leukocyte antigen, or HLA, is important to attraction-by-scent.
By birth a Corsican of lesser nobility, Napoleon capitalized on his military genius and shrewd political instincts to ultimately become Emperor of France. A brilliant tactitian, he conquered most of the continent before the bitter cold of the Russian winter destroyed his armies. The Russian fiasco was followed by a major defeat at Leipzig, and Napoleon was eventually exiled to the island of Elba. Undaunted, he engineered a return to France and rallied his armies. Defeated decisively by the Allies at the Battle of Waterloo, the erstwhile emperor was exiled to the remote island of St. Helena, where, according to recent historical findings, he was poisoned.

Officers received the strange call about the crash near a home at the intersection of Clark Lake and Cranberry Lake roads at around 1 a. They arrived to find a heavily damaged JCDOT pickup, a dead deer and a woman wearing only an orange safety vest and hat she had retrieved from the truck, Pittman said. The year-old woman told officers she was with someone earlier that night who had kicked her out of a vehicle and left her on the side of the road, Pittman said. Officers investigating the crash discovered security video at the JCDOT lot on Clark Lake Road that shows the naked woman approach the security gate, punch in random numbers and wait while the gate opened, Pittman said. She then walked onto the lot, found a county-owned GMC Sierra that was unlocked with keys still inside and drove it away, Pittman said.
